(More customer reviews)It basically works like this:
1.You purchase a Powermat receiver battery door specifically designed for your device (phone/etc), in addition to this Powermat.
2.You fit the Powermat receiver on the back of the device (it replaces the battery cover).
3.Use your phone like normal and when you want to charge, drop it on the Powermat and it charges. No charger to connect.
4.When you get a call or want to go, just pick it up and walk out the door. No charger to disconnect.
Pros:
-In my limited experience (limited by my 6 or so devices), the charger charged everything I tried. This isn't always the case with corded chargers. For example, my old Motorola phone doesn't charge with some charger cords even though they fit in the charging port (the Motorola "knows" it's not a Motorola brand cord and won't charge). But with this Powermat system, the Motorola phone charges just fine. So this system seems to give you more flexibility on what you can charge with only one "charger" (the universal receiver).
-The 7 adapters/Tips (and universal receiver) can be useful when trying to charge something if you lost the charger or for someone else's phone when they forget to bring a charger to your house. Think of it as a universal charger.
-This universal receiver is a white square approximately 2in x 2in x 3/8in with a cord sticking out of it. This cord comes with 7 adapters for virtually any device: Apple, LG, Samsung, Sony, DS Lite, DSi & Micro. Each adapter is labeled so you don't have to guess. You then plug the universal receiver into your device and it charges on the Powermat.
*I have included a photo at the top of this page showing the adapters/Tips.
-Lining up the universal receiver (or any device) and the Powermat is very easy and obvious; there is a magnet that helps align it, a light comes on and chirpy sound plays.
-Charging of devices seems to take about the same amount of time as when plugged into a "normal" charger.
Con:
If there are no specifically made receivers for your device, then you have to use the universal receiver (called the Powercube) that comes with the unit. So...if you have a phone/etc. that does NOT have a specifically made receiver, you don't really "save" any steps; you still have to plug in the phone to charge.Example of the Powermat Receiver for a Blackberry Curve:
