(More customer reviews)I searched around for some time and was excited about this keyboard. I was even more excited when I received it. Unfortunately this does not quite live up to expectations during the week I have been using it so far.
The Good: The case itself is nicely made and very functional. I particularly like the detachable keyboard. This allows you to place the keyboard in the optimal position in relation to the ipad itself. You can also choose to set the keyboard aside and just carry the ipad in the case. When carried with the case the keyboard attaches itself to the ipad cover magnetically - a nice design. The keyboard itself is well constructed. The USB connection is solid and should not have the breakage problems reported on many other wireless keyboards.
The Bad: Now to the disappointment. I use the ipad to take notes in meetings. I found the apple wireless keyboard to work well but it was a pain to carry the extra piece of equipment so I bought this product. Unfortunately I found that the Qmadix is not nearly as good as the Apple wireless keyboard. I continually run into problems where the Qmadix did not recognize the pressing of a key. I found that if you type slow and really concentrate on pushing down the key hard it works well but I don't want to have to pay such close attention to what I type. Another problem is that the keyboard goes into sleep mode if you have not typed something for 45 seconds. You then have to press a key to get it to "wake up" and reconnect which takes about 3 seconds. I called technical support and they said it was designed this way to extend the battery life. I suppose that makes sense but I am finding it very hard to get used to this. I should note that Qmadix claims that other Bluetooth keyboards operate in a similar fashion so I guess I'd have a hard time with those too. I wish they allowed this to be a configurable option. I think I would trade battery life for a more responsive experience. One final issue with the unit is that the battery is not replaceable. As far as I can tell when the battery inevitably starts losing its ability to charge you are left with no option but to replace the keyboard.
Bottom Line: I'm going to keep this unit for now. If I can get used to the typing pressure needed to get keys to register then I'll be happy. If not this one is going back to Amazon and my three star rating would drop to 2 stars.
